My Little Black Bag

Not too long ago, I wrote a piece about a new members only site called Little Black Bag. For $49.95 a month, you get to choose one item from their collection. After you checkout, they reveal two other items in your cart that you won’t know what it is until after you’re done with checkout.

This is where the fun begins…over the next seven days you get to trade what’s in your cart for something else that others have. People will make offers on the items you have in your cart…and you can make offers on what others have.

For me, the trading part has been the best part of the whole Little Black Bag experience. Last month, I was able to score two handbags and a Steve Madden bracelet.

I’m a stickler about quality, so when I traded some jewelry for an R&Em canvas tote, I was hoping I wasn’t getting anything that would get a thumbs down. Well, my hopes were all good because these items were of superior quality…all the way down to the leather bag I picked out at the start.

This has been a bit of a godsend for me because I buy 2-4 bags every month. Little Black Bag actually allows me to budget at $49.95 for 2-3 bags…instead of paying the $300+ I pay every month (depending on what designer I add to the closet). They have a lot of different designers to choose from.

This month, I have a BCBG Max Azria ribbon watch (a gift for a friend) and a Matt and Nat wallet on its way. I was shocked that someone offered up the wallet to me for a necklace I didn’t even like!

As far as the retail total in this month’s finds, retail came to $170.  Not bad for 2 faves that I only paid $49.95 for.

So ladies, if you’re like me and need to budget yourself when it comes to your fashion fetishes, this may be the best site for you. They not only have purses and wallets, but they also have jewelry, makeup, home items, and other fashion accessories.

Depending on what you find, you could end up with a box of goodies worth well over $150 that you only paid $49.95 for. Keep in mind, there’s no way that you’ll end up with a box of stuff you didn’t even want. Trade, trade, trade is the answer. You’ll always find someone who’ll want your mystery items and trade it to you for something you’ll like.

You are not always locked in to spend $49.95 every month. You also have the option of skipping the month. Since you have until the 5th to pick your item, if you don’t see anything you like at that time, you can always skip the month and wait until you see something you like (they have new inventory all of the time)…or just try again the next month (or skip). It’s up to you.

Oh, and when you invite your friends to join, you’ll also receive an extra item for each one that joins.

Trust me, you have to try it to enjoy it. It’s the trading part that makes Little Black Bag so much more fun.
